When passion becomes a profession – Quality matters
Once upon a time, a young girl dreamed of becoming a hairdresser.
Over 25 years ago, the first tentative steps to make this a reality were taken when Jo joined Mr Bamber’s Hair and Training Academy in Worcester. Immersing herself in both the technical and practical aspects of hairdressing, Jo flourished, evidenced by her being awarded the Management of the Training Academy.
Able to both teach and do, Jo then joined the Worcester College of Technology as Head of the Hairdressing department. Working with an age range of 16 – 85, this provided Jo with invaluable experience which has been utilised everyday since.
The next step was managing the Diva Academy in Worcester employing 20 stylists whilst running courses in Hairdressing and styling for 200 students. Additionally, Jo was commissioned to write procedures for the Learning Skills Council and legislation for Hairdressing in the United Kingdom.
Then in 2000, Jo and her husband, Steve, possibly taking inspiration from Victor Kiam, ‘bought the company’. The Diva Academy under Jo’s stewardship flourished both in size and reputation attracting repeated offers to buy, culminating in Jo being made an offer she could not refuse in 2012.
Living in Colwall, Jo knew exactly what the village needed, a quality Hair Salon.
